RECAP:  On today’s episode (03/06/2020) of The Hockey Betting Podcast, we were treated to the exquisite hockey sense and timing that make Brian and Cam a must-listen. In particular, the guys were right on the money with over the total in the Kings 7-3 win over the Wild. And Cam had the vision to warn all that he would “smash” Vegas at Calgary if they lost at Winnipeg, which turned out to perfection. On the other hand, Cam’s rant about contracting the Panthers and Saturday’s pick against them with Montreal, while understandable, did not work out. After losing four straight home games the Panthers finally prevailed. Such is hockey!

On today’s episode of The Hockey Betting Podcast, Brian Blessing and Cam Stewart take a look at betting lines for NHL games for Friday, March 6, Saturday, March 7, and Sunday, March 8, 2020. The second half of the show begins at the 13:10 mark.

As the weekend begins, the Western Conference has five teams within one point of each other all battling for the final two spots into the 2020 Stanley Cup Playoffs. In the Eastern Conference there are six teams fighting it out for the final three post-season positions. Beyond that, the upper teams are gunning for home ice advantage. It all adds up to the best weekend of the NHL regular season this far. Most important of all, Brian and Cam have sifted through it all to find the best NHL picks on the board with some real gems on Sunday.

Friday, March 6th 2020 NHL Schedule, Betting Odds, Picks

St. Louis Blues -200, 5.5 at New Jersey Devils

St. Louis holds a slim two-point lead in the West over Colorado but is a reliable 17-11-5 on the road and has won eight in a row. However, this price is prohibitive. Backers of The Note may seek puck lines, and that’s how the guys view this one.

Chicago Blackhawks -160, 6 at Detroit Red Wings (NHL Network)

Chicago’s large price on the NHL betting board could mean more puck line play. The guys admire Chicago’s recent effort and form.

Vegas Golden Knights -140, 5.5 at Winnipeg Jets

Vegas has the hot dice with nine wins in 10 games. Winnipeg is 10th in the West with no margin for error. How does that Paul Maurice coaching extension look now, Jets fans? Cam says Vegas is the better team and likes them here, especially due to goaltending.

Arizona Coyotes at Calgary Flames -145, 5.5

The Desert Dogs bit Vancouver hard in a 4-2 win to open a three-game road swing. Calgary is an expensive favourite considering their lackluster 15-12-4 home record. Listen to The Hockey Betting Podcast for Cam’s strong double-play selection.

Colorado Avalanche -130, 5.5 at Vancouver Canucks

Cancuks fans have slammed the panic button hard after six losses in Vancouver’s last eight games to put their 2020 Stanley Cup Playoffs candidacy in peril. Injury-ravaged Colorado has still managed to win seven of their last eight. Cam leans under due to the Avs trending that way these days. Brian is impressed with the Avs staying right behind the Blues for tops in the West. The guys pass on the side.

Toronto Maple Leafs -175, 6.5 at Anaheim Ducks

Swinging from suicide watch to parade planning makes life as a Toronto Maple Leafs fan the ultimate psychotic experience. Despite two straight losses, the Leafs hold the sixth playoff spot in the East. Brian likes over the total strong here, and Cam agrees.

Saturday, March 7th 2020 NHL Schedule, Betting Odds, Picks

Carolina Hurricanes at New York Islanders -127, 5.5

Two free-falling teams in post-season jeopardy meet here. The Isles have lost eight of their last 10 while Carolina has dropped four straight since backup Zamboni driver David Ayres made history. But Cam takes Carolina and over. He says the Canes are the better team in this match-up.

Washington Capitals at Pittsburgh Penguins -129, 6.5 (NHL Network)

Pittsburgh has won two in a row following a six-game losing streak. Washington has dropped seven of their last 10 and has fallen to 19th in the NHL for goals against. Brain notes the Caps trending heavily over lately. The guys have over the total and pass on the side.

Nashville Predators at Dallas Stars -155, 5.5

On Thursday the Preds scored a 2-0 win over the Stars on home ice. Now Dallas seeks revenge but won’t be cheap with the NHL lines. Cam will go under the total here. Brian passes.

Minnesota Wild -143, 5.5 at Los Angeles Kings

Cam was critical of the Wild firing coach Bruce Boudreau, but it has provided the sugar rush necessary to catapult Minnesota up to seventh in the West. New call-ups have given LA the fresh blood to win four in a row. Listen now to The Hockey Betting Podcast as Brian comes on strong for this one with agreement from Cam.

Ottawa Senators at San Jose Sharks -180, 6.5

The Sharks are 13th in the West and laying nearly two dollars on the NHL betting board. Seriously? Cam leans Ottawa and under.

Tampa Bay Lighting at Boston Bruins -148, 5.5 (NHL Network)

Bulldozing Boston has opened up a nine-point lead over Tampa Bay in the East. TBL seeks revenge for a 2-1 home loss to Boston on Tuesday. Listen now to The Hockey Betting Podcast for the NHL pick from Cam on this match-up of two of the best in the East.

Montreal Canadiens at Florida Panthers -155, 6.5 (CBC)

This is the last of five straight home games for the Panthers, who have blown the first four and likely a playoff spot.

Cam again calls for Florida to be contracted or moved to Quebec City. He calls the Panthers an “embarrassment.” Listen now to The Hockey Betting Podcast for analysis and a key NHL pick for this CBC match-up.

New Jersey Devils at New York Rangers -175, 6

The Rangers are only two points out of the final spot in the East for the 2020 Stanley Cup Playoffs. But NYR has not shown good value at home with the NHL lines. Brian is impressed that the Rangers are still in the hunt. But the guys pass due to price.

Buffalo Sabres at Philadelphia Flyers -215, 6.5

Eight wins in a row have made the Flyers an expensive favourite by oddsmakers posting the NHL odds. Philadelphia is 24-5-4 at home while Buffalo is 10-19-4 on enemy ice. Brian is totally downcast about his beloved Sabres. The guys pass.

Columbus Blue Jackets at Edmonton Oilers -175, 6 (NHL Network, CBC)

Despite losing eight of their last 10 and ranking 28th for goal scoring the Blue Jackets hold the seventh playoff spot in the East. The expensive Oilers are coming off a 4-3 loss at lowly Chicago. The guys pass again.

Sunday, March 8th 2020 NHL Betting Odds Schedule, Picks

Carolina Hurricanes at Pittsburgh Penguins

If Matt Murray is in goal for the Pens, Cam will take over the total.

Tampa Bay Lighting at Detroit Red Wings

The guys pass due to the massive price on TBL.

Vegas Golden Knights at Calgary Flames (SN)

If Vegas loses to Winnipeg on Friday Cam says he will smash them here against Calgary. Brian likes VGK more in this one than on Friday at the Jets.

St. Louis Blues at Chicago Blackhawks (NBCSN)

Cam would only consider over the total on this one.

Minnesota Wild at Anaheim Ducks

Listen now to the Hockey Betting Podcast for a double-play NHL pick from Cam on this one with full analysis from the guys.

Columbus Blue Jackets at Vancouver Canucks

Listen now to The Hockey Betting Podcast for a strong pick from Cam on this one.

Colorado Avalanche at San Jose Sharks (NBCSN)

Brian has a best bet for this one. And Cam enthusiastically seconds the motion. Listen to The Hockey Betting Podcast to get the guys’ strongest play of the entire weekend.
