Wednesday, February 12th 2020 NHL Schedule, Betting Odds, Free Picks

Montreal Canadiens at Boston Bruins -200, 5.5 (SN, NBCSN)

Two Original Six arch-rivals and both in good form will meet on national TV with precious points towards the 2020 Stanley Cup Playoffs at stake. What more could puckheads possibly want?

Montreal is now seven points out of the last post-season slot in the East after seven wins in their last 10 games. Boston has taken over top spot in the East with six wins in their last seven tilts. The Bruins rank first for goals allowed and second for penalty killing. Cam says throw the records out when these two rivals meet and urges caution on the big Boston price. He passes.

Calgary Flames -140, 5.5 at Los Angeles Kings (SN1, NBCSN)

Calgary remains in precarious position for post-season by just a single point in the West. Lowly LA has but one win in their last 10 outings. Neither club has much in the way of offence. Brian says the Kings are a “fire sale waiting to happen.” But Cam says “Calgary is not to be trusted” and adds that this is a “difficult game.” Brian leans Calgary based on the angle of LA coming back from a four-game road trip.

Chicago Blackhawks at Vancouver Canucks -150, 6.5 (SN)

Cam correctly called for the Canucks to end their four-game losing streak on Monday’s episode (02/10/2020) as Vancouver crushed Nashville 6-2. After flirting with playoff contention Chicago has dropped four of their last five. Brian says a case can be made for over the total and Cam agrees. The guys have caution flags out for this one as well on the side.

Thursday, February 13th 2020 NHL Schedule, Betting Odds, Free Picks

Columbus Blue Jackets at Buffalo Sabres -110

CBJ ranks second in the NHL for goals allowed and has gone over the total in only 19 out of 57 games on the season. Furthermore, the Blue Jackets have stayed under the number in eight of their last 10 outings. Brian and Bruce have howled at the moon over the lackluster Sabres in our last several episodes of The Hockey Betting Podcast, questioning their character as much as their ability. Buffalo has dropped six of their last eight. Cam leans CBJ, but Brian says that Columbus struggles in games at Buffalo.

Dallas Stars at Toronto Maple Leafs -148

This is a classic match-up of opposites with the defence-oriented Stars and the offence-oriented Leafs. Dallas can’t score consistently while Toronto is not to be trusted with a lead. Cam likes Dallas at plus-money and continues to scoff at Toronto’s good luck.

Edmonton Oilers at Tampa Bay Lightning -215

Even with Connor McDavid out for Edmonton this one features plenty of skill and offence, but the Lighting have the superior back end and goaltending. Coach Jon Cooper’s Bolts have won eight of their last nine match-ups. The puck lines may appeal to TBL backers here. Cam likes under the total and Brian agrees.

Philadelphia Flyers at Florida Panthers -127 (NBCSN)

Florida has fallen three points out of the final post-season spot in the East with five losses in their final six games. The Panthers ranking of 28th for goals allowed has caught up with them. Coach Alain Vigneault has the Flyers in top form with six wins in their last eight games to gain the number seven playoff slot in the East. Cam says you can make a case for either side as well as for over or under the total. But he likes the Florida revenge angle after the Panthers loss at Philadelphia last week. Brian is thinking over the total and Cam agrees.

Detroit Red Wings at New Jersey Devils -215

Cam admitted on Monday’s episode (02/10/2020) that he has a thing for the Devils despite their last place status in the Metropolitan Division. The puck line may be in play here against the dreadful Red Wings. Cam likes New Jersey but not the price.

Arizona Coyotes -137 at Ottawa Senators (RDS)

Monday’s episode (02/10/2020) featured a great pick from the guys on Arizona at Montreal. The Coyotes prevailed 3-2 as Cam saw a looming Habs letdown. But the Coyotes can’t rest on their laurels as they are fighting for their playoff lives. Brian remarked on Monday at how streaky Arizona can be. Brian says the Coyotes will be in desperation mode after their Tuesday loss at Toronto. Cam really likes Arizona in this one.

New York Islanders at Nashville Predators -136

On both the Friday episode (02/07/2020) and Monday episode (02/10/2020) of The Hockey Betting Podcast, Brian voiced his optimism about the Isles in the weeks ahead. Structure, defence and goaltending make NYI a tough out. Those used to be staples of the Predators. But not anymore.
The guys both have strong picks for this one. Listen to the Hockey Betting Podcast to get it.

New York Rangers at Minnesota Wild -129

Both of these teams are out of post-season position and are dangerously inconsistent. Cam says the Rangers are under-rated and will take the plus-money. Brian likes over the total and Cam agrees.

Washington Capitals at Colorado Avalanche -148

This is a potential preview of the 2020 Stanley Cup Final. Colorado hosts a Stadium Series game against the LA Kings Saturday night at the Air Force Academy and could be distracted. Washington has lost four of their last six to drop out of first place in the East. Cam sees Washington as a live dog pick at Colorado.

St. Louis Blues at Vegas Golden Knights -143

Listen to The Hockey Betting Podcast for complete analysis from Brian and Cam on this one. Tuesday’s cardiac episode suffered by Jay Bouwmeester of the Blues in the midst of the “Dad’s Trip” makes for a complicated intangible factor, especially with VGK coming off a bad loss.

Calgary Flames -132 at Anaheim Ducks

Anaheim has quietly won six of their last 10 with four of their last five games going under the total. But the Flames have won two in a row on the road and must keep pushing for the 2020 Stanley Cup Playoffs.
